Call to Order &Roll Call – President Matt Portrey called the Regular Meeting to Order at 6:00 p.m. Upon roll call the following Board of Education (BOE) members responded as being present: Matt Portrey, Elizabeth Richardson, Kellie Stewart, and Tony Winton. John Zak was absent.

Approval of Agenda – E Richardson made a motion to approve the agenda with modification. K Stewart
seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion Carried

Spotlight on Education – Dr. Embray presented the Board of Education with Appreciation Certificates in recognition of Iowa School Board Appreciation month.

Consideration of Action on Consent Items – T Winton made a motion to approve the consent agenda
including items 5A through 5L. E Richardson seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion Carried.

Minutes were approved for the April 8, 2024 Regular Meeting, the April 15, 2024 Special Meeting, the April 23, 2024 Special Meeting and Work Session and the April 29, 2024 Special Meeting.

6B. Comments from Board of Education – T Winton reported that Director of Operations &Transportation Frank Bachman and he are scheduled to meet with the City of Glenwood to discuss long term maintenance issues concerning the new Trailhead Bridge.
6C. Legislative Update – None. The State Legislative session is closed.
6D. Presentations – None
6E. GRC Campus Closing Update – Dr. Embray provided GRC Campus closing update. Currently, the campus closing and exit by the State of Iowa has been extended into 2025. HVAC concerns remain. 6F. New Building Update – Dr. Embray provided an update on the new building. The architects and engineers are currently projecting a building timeline of 8 to 10 months after groundbreaking.

9A. Approval of the AEA Purchasing Agreement for the 2024-2025 School Year.
E Richardson made a motion for approval of the AEA Purchasing Agreement for food and supplies, ware wash, equipment &small wares for 2024-2025 school year. T Winton seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.
9B. Approval of Extension Agreement with Pan-O-Gold Baking Co.
K Stewart made a motion for approval of the Extension Agreement with Pan-O- Gold Baking Co. as the districts bread vendor for the 2024-2025 school year. T Winton seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.
9C. Approval of Extension Agreement with Hiland Dairy Foods
K Stewart made a motion for approval of the Extension Agreement with Hiland Dairy Foods. as the districts milk and juice products vendor for the 2024-2025 school year. T Winton seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.
9D. Approval of MOU with Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates (iJAG)
E Richardson made a motion for approval of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates (iJAG) for the 2024-2025 school year. T Winton seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.
9E. Tentative Approval of 2024 Graduates
E Richardson made a motion for approval of the 2024 tentative graduates, contingent upon completion of all requirements. K Stewart seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.
9F. Approval of Tentative Agreement with Glenwood Education Association (GEA)
K Stewart made a motion for approval of the Tentative Agreement with the GEA for the 2024-2025 school year. E Richardson seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.
9G. Approval of IT &Media Managed Services Agreement with Green Hills AEA
E Richardson made a motion for approval of the IT &Media Managed Services Agreement with Green Hills AEA. K Stewart seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.
9H. Approval of School Research Nexus Membership
E Richardson made a motion for approval of membership to join the School Research Nexus (SRN). K Stewart seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.
9I. Approval of Resolution Approving &Authorizing the CMAR Project Delivery Method
T Winton made a motion to approve passing a resolution to authorize GCSD for the CMAR Project Delivery Method for the new building project. E Richardson seconded the motion. M Portrey, E Richardson, K
Stewart and T Winton all voted “aye”. J Zak was absent. Motion carried.
9J. Approval of Notice of Intent to Enter into a Guaranteed Maximum Price Contract
K Stewart made a motion for approval to post a notice of intent to enter into a CMR process for the new building to gain a guaranteed maximum price contract. T Winton seconded the motion. Motion carried.
9K. Approval of Contract Proposal from Sophos
K Stewart made a motion for approval of the Sophos managed detection and response contract. T Winton seconded the motion. Motion carried.
9L. Approval of Project Bid from Mark Hughes Construction
T Winton made a motion for approval to hire Mark Hughes Construction as the low bid to complete the maintenance building parking lot fill in project. E Richardson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
9M. Approval of Contract with Grundmeyer Leader Search LLC
K Stewart made a motion for approval of the contract with Grundmeyer Leader Services LLC for Superintendent search services. T Winton seconded the motion. Motion carried.
9N. Approval of Proposed Kids Place Contracts and New Hours of Operation
E Richardson made a motion for approval of proposed Kids Place Contracts for the 2024 2025 school year and proposed new hours of operation. K Stewart seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.
9O. Exempt Session
The BOE went into exempt session to discuss the districts proposed FY25 compensation and benefits strategy for all employees. No action was taken.
Adjournment
As there was no further business to come before the Board at this time, a motion was made by K Stewart and seconded by T Winton to adjourn the meeting at 8:40 p.m. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.
