Call to Order, Roll Call &Agenda Approval –
President Matt Portrey called the Public Hearing, Special Meeting to Order at 6:00 p.m. Upon roll call the following Board of Education (BOE) members responded as being present: Matt Portrey, John Zak, Elizabeth Richardson, Kellie Stewart, and Tony Winton. T Winton made a motion to amend and approve the agenda. E Richardson seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.

Consideration of Action on Consent Items –
Elizabeth Richardson made a motion to approve the consent agenda including items 2A through 2E. K Stewart seconded the motion. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.

Announcements and Communications
3A. Comments from Public – Ashlie Salazar &Grant Stivers provided comments supporting a November 2024 GO Bond Referendum to remodel and add a gymnasium the Northeast Elementary school building.
3B. Comments from Board of Education – None
3C. Legislative Update – Dr. Embray provided a legislative update including new open enrollment guidelines.
3D. Presentations – Kids Place Childcare Champions parent representatives, Michala Doherty, Grace Clark, Lara Uphoff &Ashley Warren gave a presentation on the Committee’s Fundraising Plans for Saving Kids Place.

4A. Approval of MOU with Kids Place Childcare Champions
T Winton made a motion to approve the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Kids Place Childcare Champions parent committee regarding their fundraising plan and how it relates to the new building being constructed pending district attorney review. E Richardson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
4B. Approval of to Rescind Resignation
E Richardson made a motion to rescind the resignation of Brian Morgan. T Winton seconded the motion. Motion carried.
4C. Approval of Bid from Affordable Asphalt L.L.C.
K Stewart made a motion for approval to hire Affordable Asphalt, L.L.C. as the low bid to complete the asphalt replacement project for the North drive at the Middle School. E Richardson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
WORK SESSION
District Career Academic Planning (DCAP) Update – Administrator Lorraine Duitsman gave a presentation on the District Career Academic Planning update.
District Behavior Supports – Administrator Cindy Menendez gave a presentation on GCSD Behavior Supports.

As there was no further business to come before the Board at this time, a motion was made by K Stewart and seconded by T Winton to adjourn the regular meeting at 7:57 p.m. All voted “aye”. Motion carried.
